Low Rock Swimmers Club is based in Portmarnock in North Dublin. This is a highly active group in the Green Communities progranne with a strong ethos for environmental protection. Involved in sea-swimming all year round, the group is very active in recruiting other brave souls to swell their ranks! The group members act as custodians of the local swimming spot and surrounding coastal area and carry out regular litter picks in the Low Rock beach area. A recent Green Communities grant boosted their supplies of clean-up & health and safety equipment. They are currently campaigning to improve public access to the beach in order for more people to enjoy the swimming site on a year-round basis. In September 2010, a launch of their newly renovated Swimming Hut was well attended by locals and involved a demonstration on water safety, local musicians and a quick dip!
