Brookfield is a residential area in South Dublin. The aim of the Environment Group is to bring about a positive impact on the local area in terms of both enhancing biodiversity and promoting community integration. With the aid of a Green Communities grant, the group held an open day in November 2009 to plant a native hedgerow in a local green space. This event attracted local media attention and there was a great turnout from the local community. Future plans in the pipeline include the development of a community garden in the local area to engage local unemployed persons in association with the Community Foundation.
