This group has historically had strong involvement with An Taisce’s Coastcare project and have participated on several beach clean-ups along Portmarnock strand. The Balseskin members along with Green Communities staff have established a community garden & orchard in the extensive grounds of the reception centre in North Dublin. Activity days, lead by Green Communities staff, and members of Finglas Community Garden, take place on the first Wednesday of each month (subject to changes: see contact below). As this is a centre for asylum seekers, involvement by clients in the community garden serves to give a certain sense of ownership and pride in their local environment.
