This is a highly active and award winning group in North County Dublin; category winners in Cleaner Communities Awards: ‘Best Presented Village’, ‘Best Presented Community Centre’ and ‘Best Example of Community Environmental Initiative’. In 2009 Balscadden received a Green Communities grant to purchase tools and spring bulbs to enhance the biodiversity of their beautiful village. Ongoing projects in 2011 include the development of a wildlife area and workshops to tackle a stretch of Japanese knotweed with the cooperation of Fingal County Council’s Biodiversity Officer.
